What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Engineer, Office of the Chief AI Officer (Remote) position at Eka Software Solutions?
Quoreka has a formidable presence in the vendor solutions market for metals, energy, and agriculture. Catering a wide range of asset classes, our company utilizes a cloud-based suite of CTRM and ETRM solutions enhanced by AI/ML technology, alongside Supply Chain Management and E-Sourcing products. Today, we boast of extensive CTRM/ETRM expertise across softs, ags, fertilizers/chemicals, liquids, precious metals, concentrates, energy and much more.
Quoreka can provide the industry with a very unique offering that meets the growing demands of commodity traders, energy merchants’ miners, industrials to producers providing best-in-class functionality, user experience, technology and services. Our product roadmap is innovation-centric, focusing on AI and delivering strong product value propositions with clear short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals. Quoreka has over 200 employees and offices across the UK, India, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, USA and Singapore, serving ~100 customers globally across multiple commodity segments.
We are hiring a Principal Engineer to join the Chief AI Officer's team – a small team of senior engineers operating across the breadth of the organization rather than embedded in a single product line. You will lead special projects directly with the CAIO: prototyping AI product features, building internal AI tools that raise developer productivity, and driving transformational change in engineering practices across our development teams. You will work across departments, leading AI-focused initiatives while setting the standard for how Quoreka's engineering teams build with AI.
This role is broader and more open-ended than a typical product engineering seat, and we're looking for someone who prefers it that way. We value quality of work, technical rigor, and the drive to tackle hard, ambiguous problems by reasoning from the ground up rather than falling back on predefined answers. Now, more than ever, shipping is what matters, and you will help lead the charge on that front.
- Prototype AI product features in close partnership with the CAIO – taking problems from definition to working prototype or MVP, with a clean, well-documented handoff to the dedicated product team as the deliverable.
- Build internal AI tools – agents, MCP integrations, and developer-facing tooling in modern AI frameworks – and select and integrate vendor solutions that enhance developer productivity – from automating repetitive workflows to accelerating code review, documentation, and testing across the engineering organization.
- Guide development teams across the organization in agentic engineering practices – embedding across departments to drive adoption of AI tooling, prompting patterns, and code-review norms.
- Interface with external AI vendors and partner firms – running proof-of-concept evaluations of new tools and advancing co-development initiatives with those vendors.
Must-Have
- Strong software engineering fundamentals. Before the advent of agentic engineering, you were already writing clean, maintainable, production-grade code, with sound judgment about architecture and trade-offs.
- Expertise in at least one agentic engineering tool (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot) and fluency in a few more – and you use them daily.
- Comfortable working up and down the stack and across unfamiliar codebases – our engineering organization spans multiple languages and tech stacks, and guiding teams means meeting them in their environments – with the curiosity and openness to learn whatever the problem requires.
- Commitment to continuous learning and mentorship – you proactively share knowledge, coach peers, and raise the technical capabilities of the team around you.
- A track record of shipping – you move fast, take ownership, and get features into production.
How You Might Stand Out
- Experience in financial services, trading, or commodity/energy markets.
- You’ve already shipped GenAI / LLM product features.
- Direct access to the CAIO means short feedback loops, real influence, and no bureaucracy, with high visibility across senior leadership, the C-suite, and external stakeholders.
- You'll lead transformational change in how an enterprise engineering team builds and ships commercial software in the AI era.
- You'll touch more of the business in a quarter than most engineers do in a year. This is one of those few roles where you will define what AI-native enterprise engineering looks like in practice – not just a token-spend mandate.
- Real downstream impact – your prototypes and tools will directly shape the AI features that commodity traders use every day, and the practices you establish will define how Quoreka’s engineering teams build with AI.
- Flexible working arrangements; remote-friendly / remote-first team.
