SUMMARY

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within the Fabrication Department by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs daily safety inspection of department forklift and completes required paperwork.
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures products coming in and going out of the department.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or forklift.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases and other containers.
  • Packs, unpacks, and inspects incoming and outgoing products, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with the appropriate department Manager.
  • Safely operates industrial forklift truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products in the Fabrication Department.
  • Unloads incoming sheet steel and compares weights and types of material in accordance with purchase order. Prints labels and locates material. Marks with color code material chart.
  • Locates components.
  • Helps when needed in assembly or helper functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED and one to three months related experience/training. Experience in safely operating forklift equipment; ability to obtain and maintain a forklift drivers license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment.

The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.
