E.J. Basler Co. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CMM Technician to join our Engineering & Quality team. This role is critical in ensuring the precision measurement of complex components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in CMM programming and inspection processes, along with a strong understanding of GD&T.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, program, and operate CMMs to inspect manufactured parts per engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Interpret GD&T to ensure parts meet tight tolerance requirements
- Troubleshoot measurement errors and recommend corrective actions
- Document and generate detailed inspection reports
- Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment and inspection tools
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues
- Support capability studies, project launches, and non-recurring metrology tasks
- Maintain CMM/VMM inventory (e.g., styli, fixtures)
- Assist in training and mentoring operators on inspection tools and basic CMM use
- Keep the inspection area clean and organized
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Certificate or associate degree in a technical field (e.g., Manufacturing Technology or Quality Assurance)
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of CMM operation/programming experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or other CMM software is a plus
Skills
- Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Proficient with mechanical inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.)
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and inspection documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and ability to work both independently and in a team
Additional Requirements
