Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to develop personalized care plans.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring radiation safety protocols are followed.
• Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive strategies and oral hygiene techniques.
• Assist the dentist during procedures through chairside support, including handling dental instruments and managing infection control protocols.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Follow strict infection prevention management practices by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures for all dental equipment.

Requirements

• Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification.
• Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings preferred.
• Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record management.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology, anatomy, and medical imaging techniques.
• Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education and comfort.
• Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including HIPAA compliance management.
• Experience with chairside assisting, medical coding, and managing electronic health records (EHR).
