Overview
Einstein Tutoring is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and reliable in person Special Education Tutors to support ninth grade students with diverse learning needs in South Boston and Roxbury. This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about inclusive education and confident supporting high school level coursework while meeting students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally.
Tutors will work one on one or in small group settings to support students with disabilities, including autism and other developmental needs. Strong instructional skills, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate with families, schools, and the Einstein Tutoring team are essential. Reliable transportation and the ability to commute locally are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one on one and small group in person tutoring for ninth grade students with special needs
- Deliver academic instruction aligned with 9th grade level coursework, including literacy, writing, and math
- Support students in subjects such as ELA and Algebra, adapting instruction to individual learning levels
- Assist in implementing and reinforcing IEP goals, accommodations, and instructional strategies
- Modify lessons and materials to support comprehension, engagement, and mastery of grade level standards
- Use positive behavior management and executive functioning strategies to support focus, organization, and task completion
- Promote social skills development, independence, and confidence
- Maintain accurate session notes and progress documentation for internal reporting
- Communicate professionally and consistently with parents, school teams, and Einstein Tutoring management
- Arrive prepared, punctual, and ready to deliver high quality instruction
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working with students in educational, tutoring, or special education settings
- Demonstrated ability to support 9th grade academic content, particularly ELA and math
- Special education experience strongly preferred, including work with students with autism or developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and differentiated instruction
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with adolescents and families
- Ability to work independently while following guidance and feedback
- Reliable transportation and a reasonable commute to South Boston or Roxbury
- Professional demeanor, consistency, and strong time management
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in special education, secondary education, or related fields
- Experience with behavior management and executive functioning support
- Knowledge of curriculum adaptation for high school learners
- Certification or formal training in special education is a plus but not required
