Duties
- Conduct comprehensive foot and ankle examinations to assess patient needs and diagnose conditions such as bunions, heel pain, ingrown toenails, and diabetic foot ulcers
- Develop personalized treatment plans that may include medication, orthotics, physical therapy, or minor surgical procedures
- Perform minor surgical interventions with precision and care to correct deformities or remove problematic growths
- Educate patients on foot health maintenance, injury prevention, and proper footwear choices to promote long-term wellness
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal treatment outcomes
- Keep detailed medical records of patient histories, treatments, and progress in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Stay current with advancements in podiatric medicine through ongoing education and professional development
Requirements
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited institution
- Valid state licensure or certification to practice podiatric medicine
- Proven experience in diagnosing and treating a variety of foot and ankle conditions (preferred but not mandatory for new graduates)
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for performing surgical procedures
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical setting while maintaining compassionate patient care
