What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recycling and Salvage Yard Laborer position at Einfalt's Recycling & Salvage, Inc?
General Summary
Under direct supervision of the Manager, or his/her
designee, the Warehouse Laborer will work to ensure that the overall
maintenance of the facility is performed. This includes manual labor such as sorting
scrap metal materials, assisting/purchasing scrap metal from customers,
using a cutting torch at times as well as hydraulic power tools and
forklift. Warehouse Laborer will also work outdoors as needed in all
different elements including heat, cold, rain and snow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Perform manual labor, such as sorting loose materials weighing 3 pounds up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to perform this work proficiently at a fast pace.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of equipment and Warehouse property to ensure a clean and safe work area.
- Ability to learn to operate different power/ hydraulic tools and cutting torch.
- Ability to perform physical demands of the job, to include prolonged standing, as well as lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- At least 1 year of experience in a Salvage yard or related environment (experience determines starting rate of pay)
- Ability to manage personal responsibilities in a high-stress, fast-paced working environment
- Experience using equipment including cutting torch and other hydraulic tools a plus.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform heavy lifting of up to 80 pounds.
- Conducts work in a standing position; job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting.
