Eichleay is seeking a Piping Designer with basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD platforms. The ideal candidate has an aptitude for 3D design, a willingness to take on frequent field assignments, and a proactive, communicative personality eager to learn and grow.
This position is specifically geared toward providing Integrity/Inspection drafting support onsite at a refinery in Blaine, WA. The Piping Designer is responsible for creating and editing inspection documents in support of the refinery integrity inspection and non-destructive testing programs.
A fully qualified candidate will have exposure in both 2D and 3D piping design environments as well as having familiarity with P&IDs. This role will require an individual with a high level of organization, the ability to problem solve, and flexibility in working with documents of varying formats and age.
Compensation: $40-47/hr anticipated hourly wage rate. *estimated pay may vary based on skills, experience, location, qualifications and internal peer equity.* The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting.
Work Arrangement: The schedule for this position will be a regular 5-8’s workweek with Monday through Thursday onsite at a refinery and the option to work from home on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and update piping drawings and layouts using AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
- Assist in creating 2D and 3D models for piping systems
- Collaborate with engineers and senior designers to ensure design accuracy and compliance
- Conduct site visits for data collection and incorporate findings into design work
- Support design checks and integrate 3D scans into models as required
- Assist in performing 3D scans at client facilities
- Create and / or edit inspection piping non-destructive testing isometrics, equipment non-destructive testing drawings, and similar documents based on existing construction documents related to project and / or maintenance activities or as observed from field observations and measurements.
- Create and / or edit inspection P&IDs and Corrosion Material Diagrams (CMDs) based on project and / or maintenance activities.
- File and retrieve documents using the Cherry Point Refinery engineering document electronic vault system.
- Regularly update backlog drafting requests, drawing status, and completed work on the electronic job tracking system.
- Perform regular field walks independently, or with Integrity Department personnel, to revise and / or create documents to support inspection and non-destructive testing activities.
- Create and edit documents in a variety of electronic formats including AutoCAD, pdf, or other media formats.
Required Qualifications
- 0–5 years in piping design or a related field
- Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, or at least 2 years of equivalent technical training/experience
- Basic knowledge of piping fundamentals and drafting principles
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design software
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to engage with co-workers and clients via Microsoft Teams
- Ability to travel frequently to a nearby refinery site location; occasional travel to other client sites possible
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to 3D modeling software (CADWorx, Plant 3D, Revit, Solidworks, Inventor)
- Familiarity with point clouds in a CAD environment
- Experience with Navisworks
- Knowledge of inspection and non-destructive testing activities
- Experience using electronic engineering vault software
Compliance & Work Environment
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- May require RSO Safety Training, Client Safety Training, TWIC Certification, and background screening
- Participation in random drug and alcohol program required
- Duties may require standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs, and working at client offices, sites, or industrial facilities
- Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates, including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays
- Candidates must follow client site rules and protocols regarding infectious diseases
