Qorvo is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support all aspects of risk-based EHS programs for our Richardson TX Facility. This role is a critical contributor to the performance and growth of the environmental, health and safety programs for the Richardson site, and collaboration with other sites and Corporate EHS on standards development for the broader Qorvo organization. The EHS Engineer has key responsibilities for ensuring ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations applicable to site operations and maintaining strong relationships with local regulators.

This position will be responsible to monitor EHS programs and drive improvements to promote a safe and healthy workplace for all personnel. Role scope includes all Qorvo operations on the campus and includes conducting periodic audits and assessments, identifying and resolving problems and ensuring necessary changes are implemented. This role will also support our Corporate EHS objectives and help create a culture that identifies, eliminates, and controls hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using best management practices and applicable standards.

The EHS Engineer will perform EHS functions critical to the operations of the site and partner with operations, facilities, quality, engineering, R&D and other departments to promote EHS compliance and the implementation of procedures and training consistent with Qorvo’s policies and guidelines.

This is an onsite position where the expectation is to be onsite five days a week in our Richardson TX office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continually improve environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer and corporate requirements.
  • Conduct hazard assessments with focus on risk mitigation and good work practices addressing hazard communication, fall protection, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, chemical exposure, machine guarding, ergonomics, and PPE.
  • Prepare and maintain environmental health and safety related reports in compliance with corporate expectations, sustainability commitments, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations, including identification of root causes and effective corrective actions to be implemented.
  • Conduct routine internal environmental health and safety audits and support external audits.
  • Plan and lead industrial hygiene evaluations, including chemical exposure monitoring, noise assessments and equipment ventilation studies.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and drive improvements.
  • Oversee and manage the Laser Safety Program and/or Radiation Safety Program.
  • Coach, direct and manage site ERT (Emergency Response Team).
  • Work independently to identify, plan, and complete work that has a positive impact on sustained worker health and safety.
  • Participate in cross-site EHS collaboration with peers at other sites.
  • Coordinate and conduct site assessments for program implementation and compliance issues to ensure operational activities are consistent with the needs of the organization and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure a consistent understanding and adherence to both regulatory and site requirements by interacting with all levels of the organization including management, technicians, and maintenance staff.
  • Complete and/or assist in EHS administrative responsibilities including 6S audits, quarterly EHS Scorecard updates, monthly metrics, internal audits, equipment calibration, and safety concern follow-ups.
  • Partner with all site departments to promote a positive culture of engagement and individual ownership in the site health and safety performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, or related field of study
  • 5 years of hands on EHS experience (or equivalent amount of an advanced degree and experience) supporting program development within an applicable manufacturing environment, such as semiconductor or other high-tech industry.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of general industry safety regulations (29 CFR 1910).
  • Technical knowledge in occupational health and safety with experience in hazardous materials management, fire and electrical safety, risk assessment, and emergency response.
  • Technical knowledge in the area of environmental management including experience with Air, Water, Waste, and DOT requirements.
  • Technical knowledge in the area of industrial hygiene including experience in employee exposure monitoring, ability to interpret sampling data and writing reports.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to professionally communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize job duties in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products. (Power point, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer and business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting program development within the semiconductor or other high-tech industry strongly preferred
  • General Industry OSHA 10-hour certification.
  • Experience as a LSO and/or RSO.
  • Experience working within ISO 14001/45001 Management Systems and/or supporting Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct adherence.
