Job Description
Are you passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges? Do you have a bachelor’s degree in a human services field and want to gain hands-on experience in mental health and substance use recovery? Join our Havelock-based team as a Behavioral Health Professional.
In this role, you will work directly with individuals and families to build coping skills, connect them to community resources, and support their progress toward recovery goals. You will be supervised by a licensed clinician and receive ongoing training and mentorship. This is an excellent opportunity for those pursuing graduate school or looking to advance in the behavioral health field.
Responsibilities
Provide community-based and in-office support to adults, youth, and families.
Teach daily living skills (budgeting, communication, emotion regulation, problem-solving).
Assist clients with accessing transportation, housing, employment, and medical care.
Document client progress, service notes, and goal tracking in electronic health records.
Transport clients to appointments or community activities.
Participate in weekly team meetings and clinical supervision.
Support crisis de-escalation and safety planning under clinician guidance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, or related field.
Valid NC driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and auto insurance.
Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Comfortable with electronic documentation and basic computer skills.
Strong communication and boundaries.
No license required – we provide supervision and training.
Preferred (Not Required)
1 year of experience in mental health, substance use, or social services.
Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) or recovery coach experience.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Familiarity with Havelock, New Bern, or MCAS Cherry Point area resources.
