This dynamic role offers immediate client referrals, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while working independently. As a Birth Doula, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based guidance and emotional support to expectant parents before, during, and after childbirth, empowering families with confidence and comfort throughout their birthing journey.
Duties
- Offer culturally responsive, personalized emotional and physical support to clients during labor and delivery, ensuring a positive birthing experience.
- Educate families on childbirth processes, comfort measures, and postpartum care using clear, engaging communication.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to advocate for clients’ needs and preferences while respecting medical protocols.
- Develop tailored birth plans that align with clients’ wishes and medical advice, ensuring clarity and preparedness.
- Maintain detailed documentation of client interactions, birth plans, and postpartum follow-up notes to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide multilingual support or presentation skills when needed to serve diverse populations effectively.
- Stay informed about current best practices in public health, physiology, pediatrics, and medical terminology to deliver accurate guidance.
- Communicate effectively with clients and the Eh Nursing and Wellness team.
- Adhere to applicable program, payer, and professional standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience or training in childbirth education, case management, or related fields such as public health or pediatrics.
- Strong advocating skills to confidently educate and motivate clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve a broader community effectively.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pediatric care related to childbirth is essential.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining compassionate communication and professionalism.
- Completion of a recognized doula training program; ongoing professional development encouraged (Certified doula or actively pursuing certification).
- Experience supporting births.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within your service area.
