What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at EGA Logistics?
Lead the yard team to safe, efficient, zero-downtime operations by developing people, communicating clearly, and owning the site 24/7.
Leadership & People
- Provide 24/7 site ownership as the primary point of contact for drivers, customer leadership, and EGA leadership.
- Set the tone for a professional, respectful, and solutions-focused work environment on all shifts.
- Build strong relationships with drivers and shift leads; be visible on all shifts with a flexible schedule so you can work alongside each team member.
- Communicate clearly and consistently…expectations, schedule changes, safety updates, and customer priorities.
- Focus on driver success and retention: remove obstacles, recognize strong performance, and address issues early and respectfully.
- Lead pre-shift and post-shift meetings that are short, organized, and motivating, with clear takeaways and follow-up.
- Coach and counsel in a professional, fair, and documented manner that aligns with EGA values.
- Uphold a business-professional presence in the office and on the yard, modeling the standard you expect from the team.
Operations, Safety & Compliance
- Own site performance
- Assist in yard spotting when needed.
- Flexible scheduling to work with all employees across all shifts
- Assist in writing site-specific SOPs.
- Train team members on SOPs and safety expectations.
- Continuously manage and update SOPs as operations evolve.
- Ensure completion and quality of DVIRs, including tire tread depth, PSI, and other safety-critical checks.
- Oversee equipment fleet maintenance, basic on-site repairs, and manage idle time to control fuel and wear.
- Monitor SmartDrive safety events and use them as coaching opportunities.
- Manager site scheduling and coverage planning.
- Maintain accurate equipment inventory and checklists.
- Ensure the yard is clean, organized, and squared away, with strong first-impression presentation for the customer.
- Manage fueling times and patterns to minimize downtime and control costs.
- Lead or coordinate safety meetings and videos.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
