Role OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on and strategic Engineering and Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of maintenance, facilities operations, and continuous improvement initiatives at our Taylor, MI facility. This role will manage a skilled team and ensure operational excellence through proactive maintenance, system reliability, and team development.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam & Operations Leadership- Supervise and lead the maintenance team, ensuring timely, efficient, and safe execution of all maintenance activities.
- Plan, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
- Conduct shift meetings focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping (6S).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment, electrical systems, HVAC, and facilities.
- Use diagnostic tools (e.g., voltmeters, ohmmeters) to identify and repair electrical problems.
- Ensure all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, communications, etc.) are fully operational.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Follow spill reporting and cleanup procedures; manage hazardous and regulated waste.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all maintenance functions.
- Manage facility operations budgets, capital improvements, and equipment purchases.
- Coordinate building programs and oversee infrastructure upgrades and preventive maintenance plans.
- Train, mentor, and assess team performance using the Performance Planning & Assessment (PPA) process.
- Collaborate across departments to support minimal downtime and drive asset reliability.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and corrective actions in coordination with HR and operations leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in facilities or maintenance management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with heavy machinery, production lines, or related equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems (high and low voltage), HVAC systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
- Proficiency with CMMS software for tracking maintenance records.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications or specialized training in electrical, HVAC, or facilities management.
- Experience in lean manufacturing, 6S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
