The Senior Transportation Engineer will work independently and lead others to perform civil engineering design services in a team-oriented environment. Project emphasis is transportation engineering design for both public and private sectors which range in scope from small to multimillion-dollar designs. Services are provided to a wide range of clients that include state DOTs and other governmental agencies – municipal, county and state.

Job Description
The Senior Transportation Engineer will work independently and lead others to perform civil engineering design services in a team-oriented environment. Project emphasis is transportation engineering design for both public and private sectors which range in scope from small to multimillion-dollar designs. Services are provided to a wide range of clients that include state DOTs and other governmental agencies – municipal, county and state.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and produce quality highway/roadway design plans that meet client expectations and adhere to project budgets and schedules
- Serve as the go-to technical resource for internal staff
- Collaborate with external design disciplines
- Supervise technical execution and confirm accountability across projects
- Assist project managers with various project duties when support is needed
- Supervise and mentor engineers, CAD staff, and junior team members while proactively leading tasks and managing multiple concurrent projects under pressure and tight deadlines
- Perform other job duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university required
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Georgia, or ability to obtain GA licensure in 3 months
- 12 years of experience in civil/highway design projects for state DOT, County, City and/or other municipal clients
- Expert knowledge of GDOT plan development guidelines and standards
- Familiarity with procedures, methodologies, and standards including but limited to the HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, US Access Board guidelines
- Proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD) within GDOT and other agency CADD environments
- Proficiency with Excel and other general office software
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods
- Visual focus for electronic documents and design software

Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
