Senior Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Arizona or Pacific Time Zone (Remote Eligible)
Salary: 100,000.00 Annually OT
About Efinity Mortgage
Efinity Mortgage is seeking an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter with an active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) designation to join our growing underwriting team. VA SAR certification is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and approving mortgage loan applications while ensuring compliance with all investor and agency guidelines, with a strong focus on FHA, VA, NON-QM, and Construction loan products.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and issue credit decisions on FHA, VA, Conventional, NON-QM, and Construction mortgage loans in compliance with agency, investor, and company guidelines
- Utilize automated underwriting systems (AUS), including DU and LP, to assess loan files
- Review income, assets, credit, and collateral documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Analyze appraisals and property valuations, particularly for VA loans
- Communicate underwriting decisions and loan conditions clearly and promptly to internal teams
- Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and operations staff to ensure timely loan closings
- Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations, investor guidelines, and company policies
- Participate in quality control reviews, audits, and compliance initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Must reside in Arizona or the Pacific Time Zone
- Minimum of 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience
- Strong background in FHA and VA loan products
- Active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) designation required
- Active VA SAR certification preferred but not required
- Thorough knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, NON-QM, and Construction loan guidelines
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
