Salary: $125,000 - $150,000

Job Overview:

As a Buyer for Luxury Cruise Retail, you will be responsible for curating and executing the merchandise strategy across luxury cruise ships, ensuring a premium, world-class shopping experience for discerning cruise guests. You will manage vendor partnerships, product assortments, and sales strategies to drive profitability while aligning with the unique expectations of the luxury cruise traveler.

This role is onsite for candidates based in New York City. Remote arrangements are available for candidates outside of NYC Area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assortment Planning: Curate an elevated product assortment across categories such as fashion, accessories, fine jewelry, watches, beauty, and spirits, tailored to the luxury cruise guest profile.
• Vendor Management: Cultivate strong relationships with leading luxury brands; negotiate product exclusives, pricing, and promotional opportunities suited to the cruise retail environment.
• Sales Strategy: Develop seasonal and long-term buying strategies to maximize onboard sales, guest engagement, and brand presence.
• Guest Insights: Analyze guest demographics, buying behaviors, and cruise itineraries to inform assortment and product launches.
• Inventory Management: Oversee inventory planning, replenishment, and stock optimization across multiple ships, ensuring product availability without overstock.
• Financial Accountability: Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB), margin targets, and pricing strategies, ensuring strong profitability and achieving sales goals.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Planning, Logistics, Operations, and Marketing teams to support new product launches, onboard events, and promotional activities.
• Market and Ship Visits: Regularly visit ships to evaluate retail environments, assess guest feedback, and optimize the luxury retail experience.
• Reporting and Analysis: Analyze sales performance, category trends, and vendor productivity to drive data-informed decisions and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• 5–7 years of luxury retail buying experience, preferably within cruise, hospitality, or travel retail sectors.
• Strong understanding of luxury consumer behavior, particularly within travel or cruise markets.
• Proven ability to manage vendor relationships with prestigious global brands.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in sales reporting, Excel, and inventory management systems (e.g., JDA, Oracle, SAP).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage complex assortments across multiple vessels.
• Willingness to travel to ships, vendor appointments, and trade shows as required.

Preferred:

• Experience in luxury cruise retail, boutique hotel retail, or high-end duty-free environments.
• Knowledge of international logistics, customs, and compliance relevant to cruise operations.
