Job Summary:
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) to join a Medical-Surgical unit within a correctional healthcare setting. The nurse will provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations, ensuring safe medication administration, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting interdisciplinary care teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous, NG/G-tube, eye/ear drops)
- Monitor vital signs and patient conditions
- Perform wound care and assist with hygiene (bathing, oral care)
- Assist with oxygen therapy (nasal cannula, face masks)
- Conduct blood glucose monitoring
- Perform Foley catheter insertions (male & female)
- Support patient admissions and follow isolation/PPE protocols
- Respond to emergencies and assist with rapid response/code teams
- Assist with ambulation and patient mobility
Requirements:
- Active LPN/LVN license in the State of Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
- BLS certification
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- Completion of pharmacology/medication administration coursework
Pay: $40.00 - $43.00 per hour
