Job Summary:
The Bio-Medical Equipment Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating medical equipment and systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. This role supports the Anesthesiology Department and works closely with nurses, anesthesiologists, and other hospital staff to provide timely technical assistance and equipment readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, repair, and calibrate a variety of biomedical and clinical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on medical devices and systems.
- Clean, test, and ensure proper functionality of equipment such as sonogram machines and rapid infusers.
- Maintain equipment stock and replace expired or defective items as needed.
- Support operating room turnover and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and available.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, anesthesiologists, and other staff to respond promptly to equipment-related needs.
- Use a department-issued cellphone and beeper to respond to urgent service requests.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Biomedical Electronics, or related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of biomedical equipment maintenance experience
Skills:
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Basic technical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Professional, respectful, and dependable work ethic
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
