Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our team in Jackson, MS. You will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements to provide accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and government projects. The ideal candidate will leverage modern estimating software and have a deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local Mississippi building standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed Take-offs: Perform comprehensive on-screen take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment using software such as Accubid, ConEst, or McCormick.
- Bid Management: Manage the entire bid process from initial inquiry to final submission, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Vendor Relations: Coordinate with local Jackson suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and evaluate quotes.
- Site Inspections: Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and identify potential risks or installation challenges.
- Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials without compromising project quality or safety.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed bid packages and budget estimates to senior management and clients.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating or electrical project management.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience (Journeyman license preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Experience with AI-powered counting/measurement tools is a plus.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam).
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Mississippi-specific building requirements, including humidity/climate-related moisture barriers and hurricane-resistant installations.
