Duties
- Operate cash registers (POS systems) accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling and credit card payments
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Upsell store products and promotions to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and ensure the sales floor is tidy and well-merchandised
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits of items
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area while adhering to cash drawer handling procedures
- Use phone etiquette skills to answer customer calls professionally and assist with inquiries or store information
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering preferred; grocery store experience is a plus
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations required
- Strong basic math skills for handling transactions accurately
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
- Excellent communication skills in both English and bilingual capabilities are highly valued
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and upselling techniques preferred
- Ability to perform retail math calculations quickly and accurately during busy periods
