What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Accountant position at Eenhoorn?
As the Corporate Accountant at Eenhoorn, located in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, you will play a vital role in supporting the financial integrity of our U.S. and Netherlands portfolios. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll collaborate with our Accounting team to ensure our financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, and systems are timely, accurate, and aligned with strategic business goals. You’ll also have the opportunity to support and develop financial models and reporting used by leadership to drive business decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with accounting and finance functions for the residential, commercial and Netherlands portfolio (55 entities)
- Record transactions and manage accounting and reporting activity for retail space.
- Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports.
- Perform financial analysis to spot trends and identify items needing adjustment.
- Review and manage A/R and A/P discrepancies.
- Ensure that all accruals are appropriate and accurately recorded (tax, insurance, etc.)
- Ensure that assigned monthly reconciliations (bank, balance sheet recs, security deposits, etc.) are completed timely and accurately.
- Assist with the preparation of tax returns and quarterly franchise tax payments, including all related working papers.
- Calculate and record annual tax depreciation.
- Prepare annual tax workbooks for operating and non-operating entities.
- Conversion of Dutch financials to US tax basis.
- Review and respond to tax notices received.
- Manage annual renewals and reporting for all business entities.
- Manage HAP process including collecting deposit slips, entering payment details in system, tracking HAP delinquency, and ensuring accuracy.
- Ensure accuracy of construction management software related to development activities and provide relevant reporting for management and Board review.
- Maintain general ledger account coding sheet and financial reporting layouts within accounting software system
- Assist with the oversight and preparation of the annual budgeting process.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university
- Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting/finance or tax management.
- CPA preferred
- Experience with Yardi real estate software and QuickBooks a plus
Qualifications and Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of accounting, general ledger accounts and financial statements.
- Proficiency in income tax preparation and advanced knowledge of tax requirements, specifically related to partnership taxes.
