Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Swim Coach/Aquatics Director to lead our swimming and water safety programs. This role combines hands-on coaching with program management, inspiring participants of all ages and skill levels to achieve their aquatic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, a strong background in sports coaching, and experience working with children and students. As a key leader, you will foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment that encourages growth, skill development, and enjoyment in water activities. This is a seasonal opportunity, week days starting approximately the week of June 29 through end of August.
Overview:
- The Aquatics Director/Swim Coach will oversee all swim-team related programs.
- Enthusiasm for teaching, coaching and children is considered an essential aspect of the job.
- The Aquatics Director/Swim Coach should take an active role in encouraging and promoting participation in the swim team program.
- The Aquatics Director/Swim Coach is encouraged to offer additional programs throughout the day for the pleasure and participation of all members that foster a fun and active swimming program.
Public Relations
- Promote friendly and courteous attitudes among all staff toward members
- Be tactful, consistent and firm when enforcing pool rules
Responsibilities of the job include:
- Demonstrate an understanding of facility policies, procedures and rules and enforce these rules in a courteous and uniform manner
- Encourage members to participate on Swim Team
- Run swim team practices and stroke clinics
- Coordinate swim meets
- Attend South Shore Swim League meetings
- Assist in the coordination of instructor schedules with Managers
- Assist in lesson sign-ups and ensure that all participant’s names are given to the Management team
- Ensure that daily attendance is taken at lessons
- Responsible for Red Cross paperwork and certificates
- Maintain current certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR and Water Safety Instruction
Lifeguards
- Keep adequate number of lifeguards on during club hours
- Check lifeguard certifications
- Maintain accident reports
- Monitor lifeguards - have proper dress
- Attend Management Committee Meetings
Qualifications
- Proven experience in lifeguarding with current certification; prior experience as a swim coach or aquatics director is highly preferred.
- Strong background in sports coaching, teaching physical education, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and students of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of swimming techniques, water safety standards, and behavior management strategies.
- Experience in teaching or coaching other sports like basketball or gymnastics is a plus.
- Certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid are required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire participants of all ages.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a lively and positive atmosphere.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
