Job Description

The Distribution Manager is critical to the daily operation of the warehouse including: receiving, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, and returns; all accomplished through a focus on customer service and quality.

The standard work hours for this position are 12:30pm – 9:30pm Monday through Friday.

Here’s what you can expect in the way of specific job responsibilities as well as time allocation estimates:

Leadership (50%)

  • Efficiently meets the daily deadlines of the warehouse by leading with a culture of accountability and accuracy; ensures the “Same Day Shipping Promise” is met daily
  • Accurately cross trains staff to adhere to all standards through professional development opportunities; setting and communicating clear expectations
  • Conscientiously implements safety and environmental standards for a hazard free work environment
  • Closely manages and models control to ensure quality of packaging and hemming on all products exiting the warehouse
  • Thoughtfully assesses staff and shares performance outcomes and expectations
  • Proficiently manages staff scheduling in a manner that meets both organizational and employee needs

Communication (20%)

  • Quickly and clearly communicates all daily expectations regarding warehouse operations, customer service, and quality control
  • Accurately demonstrates, provides, and teaches appropriate customer service communication and order management skills for phone, fax, and email information exchanges

Shipping/Receiving (20%)

  • Wisely administers shipping and receiving tasks including review of daily cycle counters, processing international shipments, weigh and enter LTL shipments, and coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries per customer preferences
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots PIC order issues
  • Correctly maintains shipping supply inventory

Inventory Control (10%)

  • Strictly follows through with all code compliance responsibilities including correct documentation and participation in any audits as required
  • Precisely manages inventory placement of all products in warehouse and oversees annual inventory audit planning

To be successful in this role, you need to have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • High School Diploma required, college degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in a warehouse and distribution environment, with at least 1 year in a leadership role
  • Experience working with voice pick or Dematic IQ preferred
  • Knowledge of carrier capabilities for national and international shipments
  • Concise, clear and effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Independently analyze and solve various problems on a regular, daily basis
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities; ability to tolerate interruptions and shift from task to task as needed throughout the day
  • Encourage teamwork, collaboration amongst team and effectively delegate, train and mentor employees on a daily basis
  • Is trustworthy – follows company policies, makes and keeps commitments, never betrays confidentiality
  • Appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
