Edward Jones Trust Company provides a full range of trust, investment management, and custody services to individuals, businesses, charitable organizations, and private foundations. Teams are responsible for new account onboarding and due diligence, account opening, branch training and education, business development, and the development and maintenance of marketing collateral and resources. The team also has accountability for enhancing and delivering the client experience in partnership and collaboration with Financial Advisors and branch teams, internal stakeholders, and external professionals including attorneys and CPAs.
What You Will Do:
The Trust Officer is responsible for the management of trusts, estates and investment management accounts and serves as the primary relationship manager for the accounts they manage.
The responsibilities include:
- Daily management of trust accounts in accordance with the language provided in the governing instrument (trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney and all contracts relating to the account relationship), Edward Jones Trust Company guidelines, and federal and state fiduciary standards
- Deep discovery for asset identification, asset gathering and analysis
- Onboarding new client and branch relationships; developing, strengthening, and retaining client, beneficiary and branch team relationships
- Reviewing, understanding, and interpreting complex legal documents, including trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney and other contracts to limit regulatory and legal risk
- Partnering with financial advisors to fully understand clients' needs and deliver an excellent client experience
- Discussing and explaining tax and estate planning concepts and trust terms with beneficiaries and financial advisors
- Managing client service with other Trust Company and Operations associates, branch teams, attorneys, CPAs and outside business professionals
- Understanding and balancing the needs of grantors, current beneficiaries and future beneficiaries and effectively communicating this analysis to grantors, beneficiaries, and branch teams
- Coordinating the management and risk mitigation of special assets and real estate
- Serving on Trust Company committees, participating in business planning or other initiatives as requested
What Experience You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent training, certification or work experience.
- At least 3 -5 years trust, estate management, or related legal or financial services experience required
- Knowledge of trust principles, including: fiduciary responsibilities, gifting, trust management principles, estate planning principles, taxes, and investment principles required
- Demonstrated ability to balance compliance, legal, and business decisions
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities resulting from a high account load
- Advanced organizational skills are required
- Must be highly skilled in written and verbal communication (especially in the explanation of complex legal matters to clients that may not have deep acumen in these complex legal matters) and demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills
What Could Set You Apart:
- Substantial progress toward professional certification, such as CTFA, CFP strongly preferred
- Ability to work in team based environment, delegate work appropriately, and lead meetings effectively
- Ability to use trust accounting system, Microsoft products and other automation tools
- Ability to effectively train, delegate and informally lead others who provide service to the client and branch team
Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
Current home-based associates please note: Even as a hybrid posted role you are eligible to apply and, if selected, may retain your home-based status. However future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work and some roles may carry a preference for hybrid presence.
