The Senior Area Portfolio Manager, Leader serves as the people and thought leader for Edward Jones’ discretionary portfolio management function within Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs). This role is accountable for leading and developing portfolio management talent while owning investment philosophy execution across asset allocation, portfolio construction, and stock selection. The role partners closely with internal governance committees and stakeholders to support disciplined, informed investment decision-making consistent with the firm’s long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team accountable for delivering investment performance and managing risk across client accounts invested in discretionary SMA portfolios.
- Provide people leadership through coaching, feedback, priority-setting, and talent development.
- Communicate investment philosophy, portfolio positioning, performance results, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support internal departments by contributing insights that enhance investment decision-making and adherence to processes.
- Lead or contribute to high-priority department and firm-wide initiatives aligned to firm strategy.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) – required within 1 year
- Series 7 – required within 6 months
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Preferred Education: Master’s Degree
- Minimum Experience: 11–14 years; Preferred Experience: 15 years
- 2 years of people leadership experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio construction, and portfolio risk management. Extensive knowledge of financial markets, asset classes, and investment vehicles.
- Strategic and analytical thinking capability.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
