The Solution Architecture department is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions that are in alignment with organization's business objectives and enterprise standards. Solution Architecture bridges strategic vision and technical execution, ensuring solutions support business growth, adaptability and foster innovation. Solution architects collaborate closely with business, delivery, and technology teams to translate requirements into actionable designs overseeing these designs to implementation. This role is specifically on the Wealth-Ops team, which provides architecture support to teams within Investment Management, Client Products & Services, and Operational Enablement.
What You'll Do:

Solution architects collaborate closely with business, delivery, and technology teams to translate requirements into actionable designs overseeing these designs to implementation. This role is specifically on the Wealth-Ops team, which provides architecture support to teams within Investment Management, Client Products & Services, and Operational Enablement.
What You'll Do:
- Design and oversee the architecture of software applications.
- Evaluate products needs against existing patterns and systems to determine buy/build/re-use accounting for TCO.
- Drive comprehensive solution architectures including evaluation of current, transitional and future states, data flows, system dependencies and integration designs while ensuring alignment with firm and Architecture strategies and roadmaps.
- Collaborate across architecture teams to ensure key architecture trade-offs and decisions are documented and consensus is achieved
- Help align business processes, goals, and strategies with IT solutions.
- Drive and align portfolio and solution technology roadmaps that supports strategic business goals.
- Promote and reinforce adherence to architectural standards and governance processes.
- Identify and prioritize tech debt and improvements, supporting system health.
- Support development teams in delivery of scalable and secure solutions
- Ensure solution Non-Functional Requirements are documented and re-evaluated as needed.
- Evangelize security patterns and implement security best practices in solution designs.
- Establish reusable scalable solution patterns, best practices, and runbooks.
- Champion Operational Excellence
- Design for production readiness, continuous improvement and tech currency reduction.
- Champion HA, DR & Observability best practices.
- Drive standardization and reusability across solutions.
- Participate in Incident Response and Postmortems; Help solve complex engineering issues.
What Experience You'll Need:
Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
- Minimum 15 years of experience with financial services business and technology.
- Must be able to communicate effectively across multiple audiences, including firm-wide business units, senior leaders, associates, and external vendors.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and motivational skills.
- Deep technical architecture expertise with broad domain knowledge across architecture disciplines.
- Experience in domain modelling, system design and cloud architectures with a preference for hands-on MS Azure Cloud experience
- Practical experience in designing and building Microservices & REST API's.
- Experience with distributed caching, event-driven and streaming frameworks with a preference for hands-on Kafka background
- Experienced in both relational and non-relational data stores
