Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Data Scientist with 2-6 years of experience to join our dynamic team in Tempe. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data wrangling. You will be responsible for analyzing large, complex educational datasets to extract valuable insights, building predictive models to enhance the learning experience, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to influence business strategy and product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze Data: Perform exploratory data analysis on diverse educational datasets to identify trends, patterns, and student learning behaviors.
  • Develop Models: Design, build, and deploy machine learning models to address business needs such as predicting student success, personalizing content, and classifying user engagement.
  • Generate Insights: Translate complex findings into actionable insights and communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports and visualizations.
  • Collaborate: Partner with product, engineering, and curriculum teams to identify opportunities for data-driven features and to support their initiatives.
  • Data Wrangling: Clean, process, and transform raw data from multiple sources into usable formats for analysis and modeling.
  • Maintain & Improve: Monitor the performance of existing models and statistical processes, making improvements as needed to ensure accuracy and efficacy.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 2-6 years of professional experience in a data science or related analytical role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
  • Database Knowledge: Solid experience with SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets.
  • Machine Learning: Hands-on experience with core machine learning concepts and libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
  • Statistical Foundation: A firm understanding of statistical principles and hypothesis testing.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex results clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative field.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib/Seaborn.
  • Proven experience taking a data science project from conception to production.
  • Prior experience in the EdTech (Education Technology) industry.
