Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Department: Exceptional Student Services

Reports To: Director of Exceptional Student Services

Starting Salary: $70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience and certifications

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides comprehensive speech-language services to students with communication disorders that impact educational performance. The SLP works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, special education staff, related service providers, families, and community partners to evaluate, identify, and provide intervention for students with speech and language needs. This position supports student achievement by developing individualized education plans, providing specially designed instruction, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with federal and state special education regulations.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Conductspeech-language evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized speech-language goals and services as outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide direct speech-language services through individual, small group, and classroom-based intervention models.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate communication strategies into the educational environment.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, behavior specialists, and other related service providers to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including evaluation reports, IEPs, progress reports, service logs, Medicaid documentation (if applicable), and compliance records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluation teams, IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, manifestation determinations, and other special education meetings as assigned.
  • Consult with families regarding student progress, communication strategies, and home support activities.
  • Utilize evidence-based assessment tools and intervention techniques to improve student communication skills.
  • Monitor student progress through data collection and adjust interventions based on individual student needs.
  • Maintain compliance with IDEA, Arizona Department of Education regulations, FERPA, Medicaid billing requirements (if applicable), and district policies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current Arizona licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred; Clinical Fellowship candidates may be considered.
  • Arizona Department of Education certification, or ability to obtain appropriate certification, as required.
  • Experience working with school-age children preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, special education procedures, and speech-language assessment practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience providing speech-language services in a public or charter school setting.
  • Knowledge of speech and language assessment tools, treatment planning, and progress monitoring.
  • Experience utilizing evidence-based intervention strategies for students with a variety of communication disorders.
  • Knowledge of special education compliance, evaluation timelines, and IEP development.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in school settings.
  • May require sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting light materials, and occasional meetings outside the regular school day.
  • Ability to navigate complex situations with professionalism and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
