Technical Product Owner

School of PE (a division of EduMind) – Dublin, OH (Hybrid)

Why School of PE?

Every innovative product, critical system, and life-changing structure begins with an engineer who first had to pass a professional licensing exam. School of PE exists to make that leap possible. We prepare aspiring and working engineers across disciplines—from mechanical to electrical, civil to chemical—to earn their credentials and advance their careers. Our customers are individual engineers looking to get licensed, as well as corporations (engineering firms, government agencies and universities) who are looking to upskill and retain talent through access to licensing. If you’re energized by growth, experimentation, and a “students-first” culture built on honesty and respect, School of PE may be your next best career move.

Overview

We’re looking for a Technical Product Owner to own the roadmap and continuous improvement of our in-house Information Management System (IMS). You’ll serve as the connective tissue between business stakeholders and our offshore development team, translating complex requirements into scalable, high-quality solutions that directly support our mission of helping engineers get licensed.

The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and hands-on delivery experience - someone equally comfortable writing a BRD and facilitating a sprint planning session.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand problem statements, workflows, and requirements
  • Gather, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements
  • Translate business needs into clear Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and Technical Specifications
  • Drive Proof of Concepts (POCs) for new modules/features and identify feasible, scalable technical implementation approaches
  • Provide support for critical (P1) issues when required, ensuring quick analysis, coordination, and resolution

Product Strategy & Process Optimization

  • Proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in existing business processes, and champion solutions that drive measurable improvement
  • Design and champion strategic, scalable solutions that align with long-term business goals
  • Prioritize initiatives based on impact, urgency, and feasibility

Agile Delivery & Sprint Management

  • Plan and manage development sprints in collaboration with offshore teams
  • Equip development teams with clear, complete, and actionable requirements—eliminating ambiguity before the sprint starts
  • Track progress and ensure timely delivery with high-quality standards
  • Keep stakeholders informed with timely, transparent updates on sprint progress and delivery risks

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary liaison between business, development, and management teams
  • Surface insights, plans, and risks clearly and proactively to stakeholders at all levels
  • Facilitate alignment across teams to ensure successful product delivery

UAT & Release Management

  • Coordinate and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders
  • Ensure timely approvals and smooth deployment of releases
  • Maintain release timelines and ensure production readiness

Support & Training

  • Train and support business users on IMS functionality, fostering self-sufficiency and reducing support load over time
  • Assist with troubleshooting and support for high-priority (P1) issues when required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience working with offshore development teams
  • Proven ability to convert business requirements into technical specifications
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with LMS, ERP, or enterprise internal systems
  • Technical background (understanding of APIs, databases, system architecture)
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar
  • PMP, Scrum Product Owner, or similar certifications (Preferred)
