General Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Director, the Substitute Teacher implements curriculum, instruction, assessment, and behavior management strategies to facilitate learning and promote positive behavior change for students.
Assignment: We are building a substitute teacher pool to serve our Therapeutic Programs in the following locations:
Curae Center, Vancouver, WA serves elementary aged students Florens, Academy, Vancouver, WA serves K-12 students Gorge Academy, White Salmon, WA serves K-8 students Nova Program, Vancouver, WAserves 3-5 aged students Quest Academy, Longview, WAserves K-12 students Spero Center, Vancouver, WAserves 6-12 grade students
Essential Functions/Other Functions
Essential Functions:
Select teaching strategies to implement IEP goals for special education students. Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to meet students' needs.
Provide classroom, small group and one-on-one instruction to special education students.
Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher.
Provide one-on-one assistance to students.
Maintain a safe classroom environment and behavior management plan that facilitates learning and promotes positive student behaviors.
Work cooperatively and communicate with program staff and parents.
Gather data and prepare required reports and records.
Other Functions:
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Washington teacher certificate or a valid Washington substitute teacher or emergency substitute teacher certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience.
Experience supervising support staff.
Experience teaching children with disabilities.
Working Conditions/Employment Requirements
Working Conditions:
Classroom setting.
Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
Sit, stand, stoop to attend to student's needs and to provide instruction. Strength and agility to assist physically impaired students.
