Job Description / Essential Elements

General Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the REACH Afterschool Program Manager, the Substitute REACH Site Assistant will share logistic responsibilities at the school including student recruitment, activity scheduling, volunteer recruitment, record keeping and recording, supervision of students, assisting with volunteers, and all other aspects of the program.

Assignment:

This position is temporary, and will work as needed during the 2026-27 School Year. The position will serve the Lyle School District. The anticipated work schedule will be: up to 14 hours per week during the regular school year and up to 25 hours per week during the four-week summer program. This position will start September 28th, 2026.

Regular attendance required: This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in recruitment and retention of students.
2. Support the curriculum as directed by the Site Coordinator.
3. Assist with training volunteers.
4. Be a liaison between the regular school staff and the REACH program as needed.
5. Assist Site Coordinator with collection and evaluation of relevant data, state assessment, and other assessment for project planning and evaluation.
6. Work with Site Coordinator to develop projects, special events, and family activities as described in the grant.
7. Participate in program staff meetings including those with the local Advisory Council at least three times annually.
8. Assist with program records and project reports.
9. Supervise students.
10. Collect data and report student progress.
11. Maintain accurate data collection records.
12. Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.

Other Functions:

1. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. At least 18 years of age.
2. A High School Diploma or GED.
3. Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
4. Associate's Degree (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date); OR
5. 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date); OR
6. Passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment; OR
7. Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR
8. 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

1. Three to five years school-based experience working with students, staff, administrators, and parents.
2. Experience working with at-risk children.
3. Experience in tutoring/assisting with instruction in reading and mathematics.
4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
5. Experience creating reports and presentations.

Employment Requirements:

1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
