General ResponsibilitiesThis job is not a position that is being filled by ESD 112. Candidates for this position will be hired directly by the Roosevelt School District. If you are interested in ESD 112 positions please contact the ESD 112 HR Coordinator, RaeLynn Forcella at raelynn.forcella@esd112.orgA classroom teacher fosters and enhances a positive and effective learning environment, implements and personalizes curriculum and instructional materials for students, establishes learning objectives and standards based upon State and District guidelines, provides instruction, counsels, supports and supervises to meet the individual needs of assigned student, and evaluates and communicates student performance and progress. Terms of Employment: Assignment: 183 days per school year.Salary range $50,431 - $94,412 annually based on education and experience.Benefits: 12 sick leave days of which 6 can be used for personal leave each school year; health insurance benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance.

Retirement through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).Location: This position will be located in Roosevelt, Washington.Essential Functions/Other FunctionsEssential Functions: Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and built upon positive relationships with students; plans an instructional program designed to meet individual and whole group student needs, which may include at risk or special needs youth; prepares lesson plans.Uses necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials, which are suited to the well-being of the students and to the nature of the learning activities, program and/or curriculum involved; implements established program or curriculum objectives; attends in-service training and continues to improve professional growth through student and experimentation to remain current in methods and techniques for instruction. Establishes and implements, in a positive and support manner, classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct; provides guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage students to meet standards of achievement and conduct; makes referrals for assistance where appropriate.Confers with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, maintaining an open, positive relationship as appropriate to provide guidance and evaluation, and to encourage student achievement.Follows District guidelines, policies and procedures, and maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of employment.Establishes classroom goals and objectives, in conformation with courses of study specified by State and School District statutes, regulations and guidelines; evaluates and records student progress; prepares reports for parents or guardians.Collects and interprets a variety of data; provides reports for family communication and administrative purposes.Directs the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel.Attends or participates in all required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the District and/or Building Administrator, in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional achievement. Other Functions: Attends related student events, and family and collaborative conferences.Participates in a variety of activities to enhance personal and professional skills. Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Requirements: Valid Washington State Teaching CertificateBachelor's DegreePreferred Requirements: Academic preparation for or experience in teaching a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population.Academic preparation for or experience working with bilingual students.Academic preparation for or experience teaching in multi-level classrooms.Subject areas appropriate to assignment; effective behavior management techniques; effective instructional techniques; rules and procedures for student safety.

Proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communications; effective communication with parents or guardians in a diverse community; designing and implementing lesson plans for students having a wide range of achievement.Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions: Classroom Environment.Employment Requirements: Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
