General Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Nova Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, the 1:1 Assistant provides individualized support to a student in a classroom setting. Salary: Full salary range will be $22.18 - $26.99 per hour. As of 9/1, the salary range is $22.76 - $27.69 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Assignment: This position will work 32 hours per week, 164 days a year. Regular attendance required: This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment. This position is 7.5 hours per day, 210 days per year. Regular attendance during those hours are expected. Essential Functions/Other Functions Essential Functions:
  1. Provide academic and social emotional skill-building assistance to enrolled student.
  2. Supervise the student within group settings and work independently with the student as directed by the teachers.
  3. Implement behavior management strategies to create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to safe learning through play.
  4. Participate in meetings and trainings as requested by the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.
  5. Communicate with students, parents, staff and complete all required documentation.
  6. Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Other Functions:
  1. Maintain accurate data of student activities and behaviors.
  2. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications
  1. At least 18 years of age and a High School Diploma.
  2. Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
  3. WA State ECE Certificate of Specialization; OR
  4. 48 semester/72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience supporting young children.
  2. Experience supporting children and families furthest from opportunity.
  3. Experience in mental health, behavioral health or special education.
Working Conditions/Employment Requirements Working Conditions:
  1. Classroom Setting.
  2. Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  2. Proof of MMR vaccination or exemption.
  3. Cleared TB Test.
