Anticipated School Counselor - High School
Job Description:
The High School Counselor is a full-time, certified position reporting to the Building Principal. This professional supports students' academic, social-emotional, and college/career development through comprehensive school counseling services. The counselor collaborates with staff, families, and community resources to promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that empowers all students to achieve success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support for students' academic, career, and personal/social development
- Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with district goals and state standards
- Support students in course selection, scheduling, graduation planning, and post-secondary readiness
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student achievement and well-being
- Monitor student progress toward graduation, college, and career readiness goals
- Integral team member on PBIS and MTSS committee
- Responsible for collecting, providing, and analyzing PBIS and MTSS data for team meetings to support the whole child
- Assist in crisis response and provide support during emergencies or sensitive situations
- Serve as a liaison between the school and community mental health agencies
- Uphold student confidentiality and follow ethical and legal guidelines for school counselors
Participate in school-wide initiatives and assigned duties such as hall, lunch, and testing supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited college or university
- Valid State of Ohio School Counselor license
- Strong knowledge of college and career readiness standards, mental health awareness, and academic planning
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Proficient in using data and technology to support student success
