SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:
Provides hardware and software maintenance, training, and technical assistance for computer and communications systems.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides technical assistance and training on computer and communication systems and software applications, etc. to center staff.
Identifies communication systems, computer hardware, and software problems and monitors those problems until they are resolved. Assists staff with application problems and respond to and resolve end user technical problems.
Assist in the installation and maintenance of new computers, networks, software applications, and communication systems equipment.
Develops job aids, checklists, training and resource materials for tasks performed in software.
Keeps an inventory and library of approved software.
Insures technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
Works with Job Corps Data Center personnel and the Corporate IS Manager on matters relating to systemic problems, modifications, or improvements.
Ensures the accountability of all computers and related items.
Assists in mentoring students interested in information technology careers.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Proven experience with diverse hardware and software
Ability to adapt, integrate and modify existing programs or vendor supplied package programs for use with existing information systems
Demonstrated skills working with communication systems and networks
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work on multiple projects independently and with minimal supervision
Proven ability to communicate instructions and troubleshooting processes to internal customers
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience in work-related field.
OTHER:
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Kneeling, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead
Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects
