SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:
Responsible for preparing center meals, establishing menu and determining quantities of food. Join our team as a Cook and help provide nutritious, high-quality meals for students and staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen, values food safety, and takes pride in creating a positive dining experience.This position is based in a campus cafeteria and requires standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying light to moderate items, operating commercial kitchen equipment, and working around heat, steam, noise, and food preparation machinery. Some evening and weekend hours may be required based on operational needs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare meals according to menus and daily meal counts.
- Set up serving lines and assist with meal service.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
- Maintain food inventory, production records, and temperature logs.
- Store leftovers properly and maintain clean kitchen and dining areas.
- Report safety or sanitation concerns promptly.
- Assist in training and supervising culinary arts and work-based learning students.
- Support kitchen operations and perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of work related experience in a cafeteria/food service setting.
OTHER:
- Must be ServSafe-certified or have the ability to be certified
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
