Primary Purpose

 

Leads the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, providing strategic direction and ensuring excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning. Provides leadership for the supervision, coaching, and evaluation of principals, program directors, and curriculum administrators, ensuring resources and support are provided to align with district goals and high-quality instructional programs. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Certification/Licensure

  • Master’s degree in education or related area; doctorate preferred
  • Texas mid-management/principal or other appropriate Texas certification
  • State Appraisal System training certification

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Exceptional expertise in curriculum design, vertical/horizontal alignment and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Ability to analyze and assess instructional quality
  • Expert-level ability to coach, develop, and build leadership capacity
  • Skill in leading large-scale change
  • Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and research-based decision making
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of school board policy, regulation, and procedures

 

Experience

  • Significant and successful supervisory experience in public school administration, demonstrating the ability to lead complex systems and large teams
  • Successful experience as a principal, with a proven record of improving instructional quality and student outcomes
  • Successful experience as a data-driven, Cabinet level district administrator, leading strategic initiatives, driving instructional improvement, and making high-impact decisions informed by data

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

  1. Ensures an exemplary and innovation-driven Department of Curriculum and Instruction through strategic leadership, effective management, and a relentless focus on student outcomes.
  2. Establishes systems, processes, and metrics for evaluating and scaling innovative academic programs, ensuring alignment with the district’s strategic plan and Vision 2030.
  3. Support, guide, supervise and monitor progress of work relating to curriculum & instruction; assessment & evaluation; special education; professional learning; counseling, student & health services; multilingual programs, CTE, athletics, visual and performance arts, and technology.
  4. Ensures robust systems of instructional support, including professional learning, progress monitoring, and data-informed decision-making, so that leaders and teachers have the tools necessary to deliver high-quality instruction.
  5. Provides organizational leadership to ensure the coordinated planning and consistent implementation of the school District’s strategic plan, making certain that programs and support are effective and focused on student learning and prioritized to meet individual school needs.
  6. Champions a culture of continuous improvement by modeling instructional excellence, fostering reflective practice, and ensuring innovation is balanced with fidelity to research-based strategies.
  7. Anticipates future instructional needs and proactively designs systems, resources, and structures that prepare the district for emerging student needs, evolving academic standards, and changing workforce demands.
  8. Participates as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Superintendent's Cabinet.
  9. In the absence of the Superintendent, assumes the day-to-day duties of the Superintendent and other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  10. Provides leadership and direction for District-level community engagement committees.
  11. Represents the Superintendent at staff and community group meetings, as requested.
  12. Disseminates information to accomplish the district’s goals.
  13. Fosters a work environment and culture that is student-focused and results-orientated.
  14. Participates with the Superintendent and other executive staff in strategic planning, policy development, and problem resolution of complex issues and needs.
  15. Advises and counsels with the Superintendent on all areas of responsibility, as requested, and recommends action.
  16. Collaborates with, supervises, and evaluates Assistant Superintendents and Executive Directors in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Elementary Leadership, Secondary Leadership, and Special Education Leadership.
  17. Prepare reports as required by the Superintendent.
  18. Represents the District at state and local meetings, as requested.
  19. Promotes ownership among stakeholders for a shared vision for teaching and learning and facilitates district- and school-level work that is aligned to fulfill the vision.
  20. Manages the budget of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, including developing proposed budgets.
  21. Coordinates short- and long-term instructional planning, as well as iterative districtwide strategic planning that includes the creation of metrics to guide improvement.
  22. Supervises effective analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, as well as data visualization, to inform continuous improvement.
  23. Coordinates the review and revision of aligned policies, procedures, and practices relating to curriculum & instruction.
  24. Models and promotes collaborative work throughout the district that reflects the CCISD Core Values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  25. Attends Board meetings and prepares reports as the Superintendent may request.

  27. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
  28. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.
  29. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  30. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  31. Demonstrates proficient levels of technology applications.
  32. Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.
  33. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  34. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  35. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  36. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  37. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  38. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  39. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
