Salary will be based on experience, certifications, and qualifications. CDL holders, ASE-certified mechanics, and individuals with state inspection certification may be eligible for higher compensation consideration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on district vehicles and equipment
- Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engine systems
- Maintain brake, suspension, steering, electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, and fuel systems
- Conduct vehicle inspections and prepare vehicles for state inspections
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Assist with emergency roadside repairs as needed
- Follow all district safety procedures and applicable regulations
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas CDL with appropriate endorsements
- Two years of mechanic or related vehicle maintenance experience
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and use diagnostic equipment
- ASE certifications
- State inspection certification
- Experience working with buses, trucks, or fleet vehicles
