Job Description
To support the vision, mission, and strategic priorities of ESC Region 12. The Education Specialist for Reading Language Arts serves as a high-level instructional leader and consultant, driving academic excellence across the region. This role is responsible for creating and delivering innovative professional development, instructional coaching, and expert technical assistance to RLA educators. By leading modern initiatives, this specialist ensures regional educators stay at the forefront of research-based pedagogy and state standards.
Education/Certification
- Master’s Degree, preferred
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Valid Texas Teaching Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Experience with Bluebonnet Learning curriculum implementation preferred
- Deep knowledge of TEKS, curriculum requirements, and evidence-based instructional programs.
- Proven track record of driving systemic instructional improvement by providing targeted, data-driven feedback and high-leverage coaching to campus leaders
- Experience with personalized learning, Google applications, and the ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into presentations and curriculum.
- Proven ability to analyze student performance data and translate findings into actionable insights using advanced software (spreadsheets and data visualization).
- Exceptional public relations and interpersonal skills; ability to deliver persuasive, innovative training to diverse groups of adult learners.
- Highly organized self-starter able to coordinate complex projects and manage program logistics through proactive problem-solving.

General Responsibilities:
- Provide and create innovative professional development, instructional coaching, and technical assistance to elementary and secondary teachers
- Facilitate reflective coaching cycles with campus and district leaders to bridge the gap between curriculum internalization and classroom execution, utilizing data-driven feedback to establish actionable goals that drive systemic academic improvement.
- Support additional department grants, district grants, and TEA initiatives
- Coordinate with department colleagues to provide instructional strategies for the spectrum of learners found in classrooms
- Develop and foster "cutting-edge" thinking and innovative instructional strategies to ensure regional educators stay at the forefront of modern pedagogy.
- Design and deliver high-quality professional development utilizing best practices and research-based information for teaching and learning in grades K-12.
- Provide expert, specialized assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to support the implementation of district, state, and federal initiatives.
- Encourage and lead collaboration between department staff, as well as staff members across all ESC departments, other regional ESCs, and state agencies.
- Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with customer school districts to ensure the ESC is a preferred partner for educational solutions.
- Communicate and collaborate with regional and statewide partners on various projects to align efforts and advocate for regional needs.
- Implement Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives to evaluate training effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Support internal ESC 12 functions and maintain a commitment to professional growth and subject matter expertise.
