Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those in need of home and community care services in Hardee County. The DSP will support residents in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalized care and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide observation to monitor health status and respond appropriately to changing needs
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities, vital signs, and patient progress
- Follow prescribed care plans for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other disabilities
- Ensure a clean and safe environment through light cleaning duties as needed
- Observe for signs of health deterioration or behavioral changes and report to healthcare professionals accordingly
- Support residents in community outings or activities to promote social engagement
Qualifications
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory care needs is advantageous
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a caregiving environment
