Job Overview

The Chief Legal Counsel (CLO) will serve as a core executive leader responsible for overseeing Educa Finance BR’s global legal strategy, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management functions. Reporting directly to the CEO and the Board of Directors, the CLO will ensure that all legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks support the company’s strategic objectives and operational growth.

The CLO will play a critical role in enabling innovation while managing legal risk across blockchain technology, digital assets, data protection, and cross-border operations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned legal executive with deep experience in fintech, blockchain, or financial services, and a proven ability to operate in complex, fast-evolving regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Strategy & Executive Leadership

Lead Educa Finance BR’s global legal strategy to ensure alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk tolerance.

Advise the CEO, executive leadership, and Board on legal, regulatory, and governance matters impacting business strategy and growth.

Establish legal frameworks that enable innovation while safeguarding the company’s intellectual property, assets, and reputation.

Oversee all legal operations, including corporate law, regulatory compliance, contracts, litigation, and external counsel management.

Strategic Planning & Business Enablement

Partner with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives, market entry, partnerships, and product development from a legal and regulatory perspective.

Translate business strategy into actionable legal structures, policies, and governance models.

Lead legal transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and risk management across the organization.

Monitor global regulatory developments in blockchain, digital assets, data privacy, and financial technology to maintain proactive compliance.

Regulatory, Compliance & Risk Management

Design and maintain comprehensive compliance frameworks covering financial regulations, digital asset laws, AML/KYC, data protection, and technology governance.

Collaborate closely with Compliance, Risk, Security, and Technology teams to ensure consistent regulatory alignment across all operations.

Oversee regulatory engagement with authorities, auditors, and supervisory bodies in multiple jurisdictions.

Develop and implement risk mitigation, internal controls, and legal assurance programs to protect the company and its stakeholders.

Corporate Governance & Institutional Readiness

Ensure strong corporate governance practices aligned with international standards and best practices.

Support Board governance, corporate structuring, shareholder matters, and corporate policies.

Lead legal readiness for institutional partnerships, enterprise clients, and cross-border collaborations.

Ensure legal frameworks support transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

Leadership & Organizational Development

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global legal and compliance team.

Foster cross-functional collaboration between legal, technology, operations, and business teams.

Develop internal legal capabilities, succession planning, and professional development pathways.

Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and compliance throughout the organization.

Operational Effectiveness & Financial Oversight

Oversee legal budgeting, cost management, and external legal spend optimization.

Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms to measure legal performance and risk exposure.

Drive continuous improvement in legal processes, contract management, and regulatory response times.

Ensure legal operations scale effectively alongside business growth and technological expansion.

Qualifications

18–20 years of progressive experience in legal leadership roles within fintech, blockchain, financial services, or technology-driven organizations.

Demonstrated success managing regulatory complexity, cross-border legal matters, and corporate governance at an executive level.

Deep knowledge of blockchain technology, digital assets, financial regulation, and data protection frameworks.

Strong expertise in corporate law, compliance, risk management, and regulatory engagement.

Exceptional judgment, communication, and executive-level advisory skills.

Law degree required; advanced legal or business qualifications preferred.
