The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting business operations by ordering products or materials based on current inventory needs and tracking shipments from manufacturing locations to company warehouses.
Some Duties/Responsibilities Include
- Managing purchase orders, overseeing shipping schedules and maintaining purchase records.
- Working with warehouse staff to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies
- Conduct price comparison to assure purchasing efficiency, quality, availability and other criteria.
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
- Strong organizational skills, a good understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain vendor relationships.
- Direct experience with spreadsheet computer applications
- Ability to use purchasing software.
- Have good mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of purchasing experience preferred.
- 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook required.
- Previous experience in office preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
