Description

Position Profile:

As a Dental Technician specializing in staining and glazing, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality zirconia crowns and bridges in a dental laboratory setting. This position focuses on precise color matching and the artistic application of stains and glazes to achieve natural, lifelike restorations. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, artistic skill, and technical proficiency to ensure every restoration meets the lab’s high-quality standards.

Job Duties and Accountabilities:

 

Dental Technician – Stain and Glaze: 

  • Accurately apply stains and glazes to zirconia crowns and bridges to achieve natural tooth aesthetics.
  • Perform precise color matching based on prescription requirements, shade guides, and photographs (if provided).
  • Ensure that all restorations meet lab standards for shade accuracy, texture, and overall appearance.
  • Inspect work for consistency and quality before finalizing.
  • Utilize artistic skills to replicate natural tooth anatomy and shading, ensuring lifelike results.
  • Adjust translucency, luster, and texture to meet high aesthetic expectations.
  • Review work orders, prescriptions, and case details to ensure accurate execution.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Maintain and clean tools, brushes, and ovens used in the staining and glazing process.
  • Ensure proper handling of all materials and equipment.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in zirconia materials, techniques, and tools to maintain high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Fixed Dental Lab Technician or similar role preferred.
  • Proficient in color matching, staining, and glazing techniques.
  • Knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in all work.
  • Ability to interpret dental prescriptions and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and infection control.
  • Relevant certification or degree in dental technology is preferred.

 

Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required to engage with vendors, visitors, colleagues, and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have a keen eye for precision.

 

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to safely operate gas powered heating equipment (Bunsen burner) and high-speed rotary tools (bench lathe, hand grinder).
  • Repetitive motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Acute visual abilities: Fine visual acuity with the ability to inspect closely or to assemble small parts; color vision; or depth perception and/or field of vision.
  • Finger dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Ability to convey information to various stakeholders with clarity and effectiveness.
