• DESCRIPTION:** Edmonds College, School of STEM *(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is seeking a Student Support and Retention Specialist.*
  
  

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Student Support and Retention Specialist facilitates STEM student success by coordinating student support services and acting as a primary resource person for all STEM students. Position Priorities Include

• Managing the STEM Study Room (including advertising, recruiting, hiring, scheduling, supervising, and budget tracking)
• Evaluating unofficial transcripts for the purpose of determining proper placements and providing course permission codes
• Collaborating, facilitating, and marketing STEM-focused events to support student success
• Directing the RiSE (Relationships in STEM Education) Peer Mentor Program
  
  

Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of student resources (both academic and non-academic) and serving as a primary point of contact for all STEM students; providing advising and mentorship to students as needed; developing and maintaining various academic resources; maintaining STEM/RiSE web pages; and purchasing food and supplies for STEM Study Room and student events.

This is a classified position reporting to the Dean of School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree **OR** higher in a STEM-related field.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, develop written materials, and facilitate training, meetings, and group discussions for both personal and professional development.

Demonstrated ability to think critically, self-direct, and work effectively and efficiently without a high level of guidance and direction.

Ability to effectively mentor and guide students of all ages and backgrounds to support and achieve their personal, academic, and career goals.
