Remote Data Center Design Engineer

About the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with proven experience in the mission critical/data center sector to join our remote team. This role involves leading and supporting the design of cutting-edge data center infrastructure, ensuring high-performance and resilient environments for global clients.
The ideal candidate will have strong Revit skills, a deep understanding of MEP systems in mission critical facilities, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support the development of detailed design documents for data center infrastructure, including floor plans, equipment layouts, and 3D models using Revit.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering teams to ensure fully coordinated and constructible designs.
- Generate design deliverables including plans, sections, details, schedules, and construction documentation.
- Review and integrate vendor submittals and specifications into design packages.
- Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and clash detection processes.
- Apply industry best practices and client standards to ensure design compliance, reliability, and scalability.
- Assist with developing design standards and documentation workflows for continuous improvement.
- Stay current with trends and innovations in data center design, sustainability, and BIM technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, or related Engineering field.
- 2 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in mission critical/data Center projects.
- Proficiency in Revit is required; experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable building codes for mission critical facilities.
- Understanding of electrical and/or mechanical systems, including redundancy and capacity planning.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with both internal teams and external clients.
