In this role, you’ll be a member of the Grid Security Operations Center (GSOC) organization unit responsible for Event & Incident Management of SCE’s vast network. We are seeking a dedicated, hard-working Network Operations Center (NOC) Specialist to join our team. The NOC is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and first-line response and resolution of issues. You will bring your professional experience working in a 24/7 NOC environments, applying industry standard tools, diagnostics, communication, tracking issues and documentation for fault detection, response and resolution to meet or exceed SLAs. You are a technical professional that is comfortable communicating complex technical information, to technical and non-technical staff, at all levels, including senior management. We’re looking for a team member that is comfortable in operating in a fast-paced environment, embraces diverse team dynamics. and will know how to handle changing to priorities.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
The primary function is providing IT service availability through restoration of normal service operations as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Perform real-time monitoring and triage of network, security, and compute & storage infrastructure supporting critical grid operational technologies (OT)
- Minimize adverse impact to the business including our Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) application/infrastructure portfolio
- Escalating incidents to Tier 3 organization units or support teams for further diagnoses
- Communicating with clients – deliver incident progress updates and impending changes and outages
- Preventing disruptions to service through proactive event monitoring and interrogating Grid and IT enterprise systems
- Maintaining an awareness of constant change occurring in the IT network, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application areas to facilitate the identification, analysis, and resolution of potential problems before they are visible to the client.
- Upholding client satisfaction by meeting established service level agreements
- Partnering with technology owners to develop process and tools to maintain and align with our support model
- Perform Deployment & Release operational tasks such as patching to mitigate security vulnerabilities
The essentials
- Three (3) or more years of overall combined experience across (Network) and/or (Firewall)
- (Network) combined experience supporting enterprise or corporate networks:
- Diagnosing server or network errors, alerts, events, or issues
- Experience with Network Monitoring Systems & Tools
- Experience with Incident, Change & Problem Management processes
- (Firewall) combined experience with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, threat analysis or vulnerability management:
- Experience analyzing threshold events, logs, and network changes
- Experience with Network Access Control tools
- Familiarity in system patching activities to adhere to compliance standards
- Ability and willingness to work all shifts including weekends and holidays as needed to support a 24/7 operation.
- Experience supporting enterprise or corporate networks
- Bachelor’s Degree in specialized field, business, technical, or related discipline
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and/or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification(s) a plus
- Nokia Routing Specialist (NRS) certification
- Palo Alto Networks certification(s)
- Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools such as Splunk ES
- This position’s work mode is onsite. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position. Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to an assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
- The primary work location for this position is Alhambra, CA; however, the successful candidate may also be able to work out of an Irvine, CA SCE location from time to time.

Salary : $91,500 - $137,300
