PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the Master ASE Certified Mechanic Automotive is to be responsible for the maintenance of school district's motor vehicles; (buses, trucks, vans, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate of Applied Science Automotive Technology Master ASE Certification
Experience in gas and diesel buses
Additional certification in diesel, brakes, electrical, air conditioning etc., preferred Dependable
and cooperative
Qualified bus driver – CDL License Ability to pass alcohol and drug test Acceptable driving record
Region One ESC certification for bus drivers

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Maintains the school district's motor vehicles in good operating condition.
• Notifies supervisor immediately of any mechanical condition, which is dangerous to the operation

of the vehicle.

• Observes safety standards in performing duties.
• Assist Head Mechanic in training of shop personnel.
• Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
• Assist with quarterly inventories.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Automotive diagnostic equipment, wheel balancing equipment, tire repairing equipment, small hand

tools, drills, drill press, grinder, air-powered tools, welding torch, torque wrench, jacks and
lift equipment. School bus and district vehicles.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

• Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and

reaching. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving
parts. Exposed to dampness and
humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel, and all tools and machinery as
needed.
