What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Child Care Staff position at Edina Public Schools?
The Summer Child Care Staff plays a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for youth in the Kids’ Club summer program.—teaming up with the site lead and program specialist to help plan and lead awesome daily activities!
Your Role Will Include:
- Creating and running extra-curricular activities for students in kindergarten through 6th grade, including art, music, games, and more.
- Supervising lunch, recess, attendance and dismissal.
- Helping with setup of the classroom and activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No formal childcare experience is required - we are looking for individuals who have a passion for helping people and enjoy working with kids.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check.
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting at $16/hour up to $22/hour based on experience.
- On the job paid training for first aid, CPR, child development, and working with students with special needs.

Location & Shift Times:
- Program Dates (Summer Only position): June 9 – August 8, 2025.
- Training Week: June 2 – 6, 2025.
- Site Clean-Up: August 9 – 11, 2025.
- Program hours: 7 AM - 6 PM.
- Full-Time Shifts: 6–8 hours per day, 30–40 hours per week.
- Part-Time Shifts: 4-hour shifts scheduled throughout the day.
- Consistent weekly schedule preferred.
Program Sites:
- K–3 students will be at Creek Valley and Countryside Elementary.
- Grades 4–6 students will be at Concord Elementary.
