Duties
- Greet customers warmly, providing friendly and efficient service to enhance their shopping experience
- Assist customers with product inquiries, offering recommendations and upselling relevant items to maximize sales opportunities
- Prepare fresh fruit by washing, peeling, slicing, and packaging according to store standards and safety guidelines
- Maintain attractive displays through merchandising, stocking shelves, and organizing produce sections for maximum appeal
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for transactions, including cash handling and processing payments
- Ensure all produce is fresh, properly labeled, and rotated regularly to maintain quality standards
- Uphold excellent phone etiquette when handling customer inquiries or coordinating with team members
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the produce area in compliance with health regulations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and a lively store atmosphere
Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers and team members
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic math for cash handling and sales transactions
- Previous supervising experience is a plus for supporting team coordination during busy periods
- Knowledge of grocery store safety standards and food handling procedures is beneficial
- Excellent phone etiquette for professional customer interactions over the phone or in person
- Demonstrated ability to upsell products naturally while providing exceptional customer service
- Basic understanding of retail math for balancing registers and managing inventory counts
