Building Substitute Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal

General Summary: In the absence of regular classroom teacher to help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.  

Essential Functions: 

• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Take attendance in accordance with school procedures (we are available to assist)
• Indicate to students the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with WCS policies
• Know emergency evacuation routes for classroom assigned (we are available to assist)
• Know procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems (we are available to assist)
• May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as bus duty, hall monitoring or other duties assigned by building principal

Qualifications:

• Age 18
• High School Diploma
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management
• Ability to follow oral and written directions

Length of Contract: As needed and available (flexible based on your schedule!) - can substitute as many as 3 days per week or periodically, as available.
